Privacy Policy

The Short Version

• Neptunian characters remember you. To do that, we store your conversations and the memories a character forms from them.
• Your messages are processed by AI model providers so a character can reply. The kinds of providers we use are listed below.
• We don't sell your information, show you ads, or use your conversations to train AI models.
• You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.

Information We Keep

Your account. You sign in with Google. We keep your email address, your Google account identifier, your name (from Google, or the one you give us), and an internal user id. We also keep your timezone, taken from your browser so a character's sense of time matches yours, when you were last active, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.

Your conversations. We store the messages you send and receive, the characters you create, and your settings.

What your character remembers. Neptunian characters have long-term memory. As you talk, the app notes things worth remembering, such as people and events you mention, how you have been feeling, your plans, and what matters to you. It stores these memories along with short excerpts from your messages and numerical representations (embeddings) used to recall the right memory at the right time. It also keeps track of how your relationship with the character has developed. This is what lets a character pick up where you left off.

Wellbeing signals. If a conversation suggests you may be in distress or at risk of harm, the app keeps a note of that so the character can respond with care and, where appropriate, show crisis resources. This note eases back on its own over later conversations.

How We Use It

• To sign you in and run your conversations.
• To give characters memory and continuity, including between conversations. A character may reflect on past conversations while you are away and may occasionally send you a message first.
• To keep conversations safe and respond appropriately to distress.
• To troubleshoot problems and protect the service from abuse.

We don't use your information for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use your conversations to train AI models.

Who Helps Us Run Neptunian

We rely on a small number of service providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

• AI models. To generate a reply, we send the relevant conversation, memories, and character context to AI model providers, usually through a routing service that passes each request to one of them.
• Memory search. An embedding provider turns text into the numerical representations used to recall memories.
• Hosting and storage. Our hosting provider runs the app, and our database provider stores your data, in the United States.
• Sign-in. Google handles sign-in.

These providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies. We may change which providers we use as we improve the service.

Photos

Where photo sharing is available, you can send a character a photo. Here is what happens to it.

What we keep. A resized copy of your photo, with its metadata (such as location) removed, and a text description of what the AI saw in it. Both are stored by our database provider in the United States.

Who sees it. A content-safety service checks each photo first. AI model providers then describe it, shape the character's first reaction, write the reply, and check that the reply matches what the photo shows. Some of them see the photo itself; others see only its description. After that, the description is part of your conversation and is handled like your messages.

How long we keep it. Your photos stay with your conversation. Deleting your account deletes all of your photos along with everything else. Copies in database backups and at the providers above expire on their own schedules.

What we don't do. We don't use face recognition, and the AI is instructed not to identify people from their faces. We don't use your photos to train AI models.

Cookies And Analytics

The Neptunian app uses cookies only to keep you signed in and secure. Your browser also stores a few things locally, such as unsent drafts and display preferences. The app does not track you with analytics or advertising tools.

Our homepage at neptunian.ai uses Google Analytics to understand site traffic. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the banner. Before you choose, Google may still receive basic measurement signals without cookies, such as a page having been viewed. Advertising features are turned off.

Keeping And Deleting Your Information

We keep your account and conversations for as long as you have an account, so your characters can remember you.

You can delete your account from the menu in chat. You are signed out right away and your account is scheduled for deletion. After 7 days, your account, conversations, characters, and memories are permanently removed from our database. If you change your mind within those 7 days, email us from the Google address on your account and we may be able to restore it.

After deletion, we keep a brief record that a deletion happened, with no personal details, for up to 30 days. Copies held briefly in server logs, database backups, or by the providers above expire on their own schedules.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy to take elsewhere, or object to how we use it. To do any of this, email support@neptunian.ai. You can also delete your account yourself at any time. If you are in the EU or UK, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Age

Neptunian is only for adults 18 and older, and we ask you to confirm your age before you start. If you believe someone under 18 is using Neptunian, please contact us.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
